Rotary honors top 2024 seniors
RCPS seniors selected for the 2024 Rotary Club of Conyers Senior AwardsThe Rotary Club of Conyers honored outstanding Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) seniors from Salem High School, Rockdale County High School, Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology, and Heritage High School with the Rotary Senior Awards at the February 29, 2024, Rotary Club of Conyers meeting and luncheon held at the RCPS Board Room, Conyers, Ga. Seniors were recognized in the areas of Performing Arts, Social Studies, Music/Band, Foreign Language, English, JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps), Physical Education, Science, Art, CTAE (Career Technical and Agricultural Education), and Math. Special thanks to organizers and to the parents, teachers, mentors, and all who support these students as they grow and achieve. The following students (listed with their subject, name, intended plans after high school - college/military/workforce, intended field of study, career aspiration) were recognized:


SALEM HIGH SCHOOL:

English – Durania Singh; undecided on which college to attend; majoring in Business and plans on owning an advertising agency one day.                      
Math – Jessica Bryant; University of West Georgia; majoring in Nursing or Exercise Science.
Foreign Language – Morgan Brown; Georgia Southern University; majoring in Exercise Science.
Art – Maya Jones; Georgia State University; majoring in Biology to become a dental hygienist.
CTAE – Immanuel Scott; University of West Georgia; plans to pursue a career as a psychiatrist and/or real estate agent.    
ROTC – Bai Conteh; Morehouse College; majoring in Biology to become an surgical oncologist.
Science – Michelle Ngo; Georgia State University or Oglethorpe University; majoring in Film and minoring in Graphic Design with hopes of working with Marvel one day.
Social Studies – Nevaeh Pinkney; Georgia State University; majoring in Film and Media Studies.
Performing Arts – Kavauriyona Harris; Penn State or other college with advanced forensic science program; studying a field in forensic science such as ballistics, pathology, psychology, toxicology with plans to work with the local police department to help lead investigations.
Music / Band – Steve Jean-Baptiste; Alabama State University; majoring in forensic biology to become an expert in all branches of forensic science.
Physical Education – Ja'koby (Koby) Cooper; Kennesaw State University; plans on working in the film/movie industry.



HERITAGE HIGH SCHOOL:

English – Kamari Hudson; Loyola Marymount University; majoring in Psychology while on a pre-medical track.   
Math – Asia Holley; University of South Carolina or University of South Florida or Boston Conservatory; majoring in Finance and Music with plans of owning a dance studio.
Foreign Language – Samanta Nino Gallo; University of New York in Prague; majoring in Psychology and specializing in Forensic Psychology.
Art – Alana Chrobak; undecided on which college to attend; studying a subject in the Art field.
CTAE – Brandon Pruitt; Morehouse College; majoring in Business Administration with a concentration on Finance to become a financial analyst.     
ROTC – Kyla Mason; Tennessee State University or Augusta University; majoring in Nursing with the goal of becoming a Pediatrician.
Science – Collin Henderson; undecided on which college to attend; majoring in Construction Management and Business Administration to one day own a construction company servicing Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina.
Social Studies – Samanta Nino Gallo; University of New York in Prague; majoring in Psychology and specializing in Forensic Psychology.
Performing Arts – Tierra Scott; undecided on which college to attend; majoring in Film Production.
Music / Band – Breylon Carter; Georgia State University; majoring in Music Composition to become a music composer.
Physical Education – Jayla Fuller; Rutgers University; goal of becoming a dentist.



ROCKDALE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL:

English – Jayla Myers; Bard College; pursing a career in finance and economics.   
Math – Zion Long; Georgia State University; majoring in Film and minoring in Engineering to become a writer for film and television.
Foreign Language – Dominic Mullen; Oglethorpe University; majoring in pre-veterinary track to become an exotic animal veterinarian.
Art – Camille Hall; University of Georgia; majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to attend graduate school and pursue a career in forensic science.
CTAE – Kenia Munoz; undecided on which college to attend; majoring in Nursing to become a NICU nurse or pediatric RN and possibly a travel nurse.     
ROTC – Jerrica Cole; enlisting in the Navy; plans to study Psychology and Business and Marketing.
Science – Katya Lans; University of Alabama at Birmingham; majoring in Genetics and Genomics to become a pre-conception genetic counselor.
Social Studies – Hayaa Patel; Georgia Tech or Vanderbilt University; majoring in Neuroscience.
Performing Arts – Kelsey Andries; University of Georgia; majoring in Atmospheric Sciences and Broadcast Journalism to become a broadcast meteorologist.
Music / Band – Elissa Jefferson; Spelman College; majoring in Choral Conducting to become a choral director.
Physical Education – Tre'Miyah Berry; University of New Orleans; majoring in Business and minoring in Psychology.



ROCKDALE MAGNET SCHOOL FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY:

Math – Camila Moreno; Georgia Tech; majoring in Electrical Engineering to become a sustainable/renewable energy researcher.
Science – Kathryn Stoltz; undecided on which college to attend; majoring in Biochemistry to become a scientific researcher.
